Our school is situated in north Hailsham. Hailsham is a thriving market town with a rapidly growing population. The school has a history going back to 1934 when it was first established and we moved to our spacious new premises in 1996. We are sited on the edge of a newly built housing development within view of the South Downs.
There are 21 classes in our school, three in each year group. The year groups provide the security of a small school; three classes grouped around a shared area with teachers and teaching assistants working closely together as a team. We combine this with the diversity and opportunity that a big primary school can offer through the talents and interests of a large staff.
Our facilities are extensive. Outside we have large playing fields; hard areas equipped with climbing frames and other play facilities; a pond teeming with wildlife and organic gardens. We have recently built an all weather pitch to extend our PE facilities. Inside, in addition to the classrooms, we have two large halls fully equipped with sound and lighting for school productions, a computer suite, a music room, a studio and two purpose-built rooms to provide for children with special needs.
All this combines to give our children the best possible opportunities. We work hard at Grovelands to create a secure, safe environment where children can face challenges and meet with success. |
