Term 6 Overview

This term we will be learning about plants. Some of the areas we will be focussing on include: parts of a plant, movement of water and experiments to test the best environment for growth. We will then be discovering lots of amazing things about light and dark through more hands on experiments.

The children will be journalists in term 6 focussing on newspaper reporting during English lessons.  The children will also be exploring a range of different parodies so the children can see how to adapt a well-known story. They will then have a go at writing their own versions of different traditional tales. In addition we will also be having a go and creating our own playscripts.

In Maths the children have been learning about written and mental methods of multiplication and division. We have been practising using these new skills to solve real life problems. Year 3 will also be continuing their work with fractions so the children can confidently solve calculations involving halves, quarters and tenths.

PE this term will focus on athletics skills, building up to our sports day. The children will be given an opportunity to practise the different sports and compete with the other classes in year 3. The children will also have a chance to become opinion pollsters during our computing this term. They will collect data electronically and present it in different ways using a variety of programs.
