This term year 3 will be exploring the exciting world of the Ancient Egyptians. We will become familiar with the day to day lives of the people, as well as their important rituals and Gods. The children will have a go at mummifying each other and then writing instructions to help someone else complete this task. During this topic, we will be looking at the importance of the River Nile to the people of the region throughout this period in history.
In English, the children will be reading and re-telling Egyptian myths. They will be writing and illustrating their own Egyptian comic stories.
The children will continue to practise using their maths skills in a variety of contexts this term building their knowledge of using formal written methods for each of the core operations. There will also be an emphasis on developing reasoning skills through problem solving.
Towards the end of this term, we will also be studying the importance of recycling and reusing. We will look at the processes involved and try to develop ideas to improve our own recycling.
The children will continue their introduction to swimming this term with 2 more sessions in the first few weeks. They will also be doing striking and fielding games during PE sessions. This will be combined with our computing topic this term which is ‘We are presenters.’ They will be creating and filming their own sports programmes using different pieces of software.
