We have reached term 2 of year 6 already! This term the children will be learning about storms and shipwrecks! We will be learning about why storms happen, the devastation they cause and we will be doing a case study about the 1987 hurricane.
There have been a number of notorious shipwrecks and we will be researching and investigating a few of them including the Titanic, the Lusitania and the Mary Rose. In the year group, our three classrooms document the Titanic’s journey from a great ship of splendour, to seeing it as it sinks and finally as a wreck at the bottom of the ocean.
Anti-bullying week is the week commencing 14th November 2016 During this week, we will discuss what it means to be bullied and what bullying might look like, including cyber bullying, which has become very prevalent in this digital age. We will be finding ways to avoid conflict and using our mindful minutes techniques to stay calm. The theme for the week is ‘Power for Good’ and on the Friday (18th November) all of the children are invited to dress up as a superhero to celebrate the theme.
At the end of term, we will be doing some Christmas activities including some work linked to ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas!’ by Dr Seuss and ‘’Twas the Night Before Christmas’ by Clement C. Moore. We will also be making some festive decorations to decorate the classroom and of course there will be the traditional Christmas party on the last day of term.
