We seek to provide a caring environment where children can be challenged and enjoy success.
Our school organisation and teaching methods all reflect this.
Early Years Foundation Stage
Each of the three Reception and Year 1 classes has fully trained teaching assistants to support each teacher plus additional help from our Learning Support staff.
Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) work within the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage 2014. The Framework covers Communication and Language, Personal Social and Emotional Development, Physical Development, Literacy, Mathematics, Knowledge and Understanding the World and Expressive Art and Design.
Each class in a year group is in one of three houses – Ash, Beech or Oak. These are used for a variety of sports, competitions, social and administrative purposes.
Children are taught with others of the same age group. The class teacher is responsible for children’s learning and teaching assistants support in class. Teachers use a wide range of strategies, working with whole class, small group, individual teaching and encouraging learning partners.
Teachers in the same year group plan/assess and moderate together throughout the year. Teamwork is highly valued in all areas of the school.
