Term 3 Overview
Welcome to Term 3 and Happy New Year! Firstly, a huge thank-you for the many Christmas presents staff received. Your kindness is much appreciated.
Our new topic sees us travel back in time to The Stone Age. We will look at various aspects of everyday life, as well as having our own attempts at cave painting!
In Maths, we again focus on multiplication and division but will also revisit written strategies for solving addition and subtraction problems. 99 Club continues and we ask for your ongoing help in supporting the children learning times table and division facts.
Much of our English work will link with The Stone Age topic. Books studied will include ‘Stone Age Boy’ by Satoshi Kitamura, and Julia Donaldson’s ‘Cave Baby.’ Pupils will be writing their own stories, set in Stone Age times. We look forward to reading these adventures! Year 3 is currently one of the school’s most successful year groups with AR quizzes, so thank you for your support in reading with your children, and discussing stories/characters with them.
Computing work will involve writing and debugging programs, primarily using ‘Scratch.’
Please ensure your child has a warm, named coat with them every day.
The Year 3 team.
