|12/09/2016||Testing – Year 1|
This is just a test. No need to do anything here!
The week beginning 11th June will be Phonics Screening week in year 1. You will have already received information about this via the year 1 newsletter. If you have any questions please ask your child’s class teacher
This Term our Topic is looking at Beside the Sea,
As part of our Topic work we hope to look at weather patterns, school aerial photos and simple maps. Your children are expected to be able to use geographical vocabulary to refer to key physical features such as: beach, forest, hill, mountain, sea and river. They also need to be able to refer to key human features such as town, village, farm, house and shop.
You could help your child to find your house on Google maps and see where it is in relation to school or the town centre. Do you live in the North, South, East or West? If you have an aerial photo that we could borrow later, that would be brilliant.
As well as finding out about how the seaside has changed over the years.
We will also be reading ‘The Lighthouse Keepers Lunch’ and finding out about Grace Darling.
