30 hours of free childcare

The 30 hours a week of free childcare for 3 and 4 year old children of working parents goes live in September 2017.

The free childcare is available for families where:

both parents are working
each parent earns the equivalent of 16 hours a week at the national minimum or living wage, and earns less than £100,000 a year
or the sole parent is working in a lone-parent family
The childcare could be available from a day nursery, nursery school, playgroup, childminder, nursery attached to a school and your child’s care could be available from more than one of the above.

To help the local authority and childcare providers meet your needs, we are asking parents and parents-to-be what childcare they think they will need in the future. We will take what you say and work with childcare providers to try and make this available if possible.
